Preschool Graduation

Will is officially ready for Kindergarten now. Yesterday we had a little Graduation party and ceremony with the 6 other kids and moms that were in his preschool this year. It was a lot of fun. We had lunch outside and the kids all played. Then the kids colored diplomas and Trina made some really cute graduation caps for the kids to wear. We had each of them come forward and get a certificate that Diane made and shake her hand. It was really cute. Then we enjoyed homemade ice cream and cupcakes with little candy graduation caps on them. The whole thing was just great!

All the graduates in their hats.

Almost all of them after the ceremony with their certificates. Cameron was done with pictures by this point.

The cute (and yummy) cupcakes that Cindy made.

So now it's on to bigger and better things. I have to laugh when I remember back to the beginning of the school year. Savannah had forgotten her homework so the boys and I took it to her at school. As we were leaving the school Will was looking around and he looked at me and said "Mom, you have got to sign me up for this place! It is awesome! There is a library, and a playground and I want to go here!" I guess now the time has finally come. In a couple of months he'll be a big Kindergartener. I don't think I'll have any problem with him not wanting to leave me. I think the bigger problem will be Isaac being without him everyday.

Memorial Day Hike

After we finished with the bike riding on Saturday we packed up a lunch and headed up to the Snow Basin area to go for a little hike. The kids had so much fun crossing the little stream several times and then throwing rocks and sticks into the lake when we got there for lunch. It was nice and cool and even a little overcast so we didn't have to worry about getting sunburned and we didn't see any other people until we were almost back to the car on the way down.

Riding Bikes

On Saturday morning we decided to go to the church parking lot to let Will practice his new bike riding skills. The kids had a lot of fun, and Robby and I got to ride a little too.
I guess I have trained Savannah well because every time I get the camera out she stops and poses.

Isaac has been learning to ride his tricycle too and he is very proud to be riding with the big kids.

Will is getting pretty good at riding. He was turning well, starting by himself and even racing Savannah and me. Now he just need to work on stopping. Right now he just jumps off or crashes into the curb and bails. Not exactly the safest way to stop. Good thing he has a helmet and knee and elbow pads.

The kids wanted to play follow the leader with Robby. It was cute to watch Isaac try to keep up.

Fun in the Sun

On Saturday I was able to go to Temple Square with the Young Men and Young Women in our stake to do a service project. We spent the morning pulling flowers and passing buckets of mulch to help the maintenance crew change all the flowers on Temple Square. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun too. After we worked all morning we had lunch in the Church Office Building cafeteria and it was good. I think the kids all had a good time.
While I was gone Robby took the training wheels off of Will's bike and helped him learn to ride on the grass in the backyard. He was so excited to learn to ride! Robby said he picked it up really fast too. Later in the day Robby took him to the church parking lot to really ride and it only took him a couple of tries to get it.

Will riding his bike in the backyard.

He just bails when he loses his balance. Luckily the grass is a pretty soft place to land.

After I got home from doing yard work on Temple Square I got to spend a good portion of the rest of the day working on our yard. Robby's dad was nice enough to come up with his truck and help us haul a couple of loads to the dump. Robby's mom and sister came too and we had a good time chatting and hanging out.
We got most of it done on Saturday, but finally got the garden all planted yesterday. (Well, except for the tomato plants that I bought today that I'll have to get planted in the next couple of days)
video
It feels good to get all that done. Now if we can just keep it weeded all summer.
Yesterday it got up above 90 degrees here and the kids took full advantage. We got the pool out for the first time this season and they had a blast! (We really missed Easton and Autumn who used to come play in the water with us before they moved though)

And, one last video. A couple of weeks ago Will and Savannah went next door to jump on the trampoline with their friend, Andrew. Will has somehow learned to do flips on the trampoline without having one at our house. I'm not sure where he learned, but it was kind of fun to watch.

We are really enjoying the warm weather and all the fun outdoor activities that come with it.

Happy Muhvers Day!

Isaac was wishing me a happy muhvers day all day. It was so cute! He was singing the happy birthday song but singing "Happy Birthday to Muhver" and then he would say "You are my muhver, mom" What a cute boy!
I had the best Mother's day on Sunday! There were no early meetings (well, except church at 9:00) so I kind of got to sleep in. Savannah made me some magnets at school that are really cute along with a great card that she made and some other little things that she thought I would like. I could tell she worked really hard on all of it. Will made me a book (not just a card, but a whole book) and I know he worked really hard to sound out the words to write on it. It wasn't very readable to me but I could tell he worked really hard on it and I loved it. Isaac and Robby surprised me with a new blender. This was a really big surprise because we had gone to Kohls on Friday and Robby got me a new black and white shirt and I thought that was my mother's day gift so when I saw the giant box on the table I was very surprised. I have wanted a new blender for about six months since our other one broke, but I haven't really mentioned it much so it was even better that he thought about what I might want and need and surprised me with it. He is such a great husband!
After church we all had a nap and I baked a chocolate cake to take to Robby's parents house for dinner. We ate and talked and hung out and it was a lot of fun. Overall it was a very good day.
I am sad that I missed my brother's call home from the mission field, but the timing just wasn't right for us to make that work. I was glad to hear that he is doing well though.
I feel so blessed to have such a great mother. She has been such a great example to me on how to be a mother and how to show unconditional love. Thanks so much for all you have done for me (and continue to do for me) Mom! I am also so glad to have Robby's mom in my life and in my kids' lives. I think she did such a great job raising Robby to be the great husband and father that he is. I am so grateful for all she has done for us and for the great Grandma that she is to my kids also. My kids are really blessed (and spoiled) to have these great women in their lives. I know they both love them as much as I do.
I hope you all had a great Mother's Day!

Temple Open House

On Saturday we were lucky enough to be some of the first people through the Oquirrh Mountain Temple in Daybreak. My mom has been working as a volunteer taking phone calls and they had a special day for the workers and their families to come see the temple before it is open to the public. Robby was able to see it for his work earlier last week so he stayed home with Isaac and I took Savannah and Will and went with my parents to see it. One of my sisters and her family met us there and we all went through together. It was such a good experience this time! We had kind of a bad experience with the Draper Temple Open house because we spent A LOT of time in line waiting and that is hard for the kids to handle. This time we almost went through too fast. It was so great to be able to really enjoy it instead of worrying about the kids being too loud and impatient. Savannah and Will were really good and they enjoyed seeing what another temple looks like. Everything went perfectly! Thanks again Mom for letting us go with you. We really enjoyed it!

Uh Oh. Sick . . .

Last night Will came running into my room at about 2:00 am. He opened the door and said "Mom! " and then he ran out. I was frustrated having to get up and follow him to find out what was wrong so I got into his room and he was just standing there. I asked him what was wrong and he just stared at me. I asked him why he had gotten up and he said "I don't know." Just then Savannah burst from her room and threw up in the hall. Concerned, I helped her to the bathroom where she threw up a few more times, luckily in the toilet this time. Will had followed us into the bathroom and he said "It's in my bed." I said "What is in your bed?" and he just pointed to his bed. So I looked, and yep, he had thrown up too. What are the chances that they would throw up within minutes of each other? I'm pretty sure it's not the Swine Flu, but dealing with throw up is never fun. Luckily they seem to be doing pretty well today. I think it was probably something they ate. I hope it goes away soon though.

Home Depot Saturday

I had the Young Women sleep over at my house on Friday night and we had a lot of fun. We worked on Personal Progress, played games, watched a movie and ate A LOT of junk food. I think it was a really good experience and I think the girls had fun. The other leaders stayed until we went to bed and then they came back for breakfast in the morning. Well, needless to say I didn't get a lot of sleep that night so I was pretty dead for Home Depot Saturday, but the kids really wanted to go so we went anyway. If I only had one kid and one craft to make it would have been fine, but all three kids want my help at the same time and they all want to be first. Lets just say that with two of them crying for most of the time I'm not sure if we'll be going back again next month-at least not by myself with all three.
Somehow we managed to get all three Mother's Day wheelbarrow plant holder things done and everyone was happy by the time we headed home. Luckily for me one of our home teachers ended up at the table next to us and he helped Will while I tried to help the other two. I don't think we would have made it otherwise.

I can't believe it's already May!

Savannah's 2nd Grade Program

On Friday the 2nd graders put on a Friendship Program. It was very cute. My mom came up to see Savannah sing and say her part in the program. We were not very far back, but it was really hard to see the kids up on the stage. I took like 15 pictures and they ALL turned out blurry! I kept trying, but it was too far away for the zoomed image to focus I guess. (Or it could have been because I had Isaac on my lap and Will bumping me in the seat next to me and I couldn't hold it very steady.) Anyway, here are the least blurry of the pictures.

Savannah was the 2nd one to talk in the program and I wasn't quite ready with the camera so I only caught the tail-end of her part. She did GREAT though!

video
Yeah, you can't really understand what she is saying. I need Robby to come to these things and run the camera. He's much better at it than I am! Her part was : "Friend, what does the word mean? The dictionary says A person attached to another by feelings of affection or admiration." Maybe you can make some of that out on the video?
