Getting Ready for Halloween

A little Halloween preview for you. A couple weeks ago we were given some free tickets to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden for their trick-or-treating haunted Halloween festivities. The kids were SOOOOO excited to put their costumes on and go to the Dinosaur Park. It was completely packed and we had to wait in line for awhile, but once we were inside it was fun for the kids to see all the dinosaurs and do a little trick-or-treating. I was glad we got in for free because I didn't think it would be worth the admission price for what was there, but it was great since it was free.

The cheerleader, the ninja and Batman.

His cowboy boots look awesome with his costume!

Striking a pose.

Super sneaky ninja Will.
It turns out that pumpkins don't like the rain all the much once they are carved. I was going to throw them away this morning when I took the garbage out, but they looked so gross I didn't want to touch them! I think we'll have to use a shovel or something. Ewwwwwww!

I guess we better hurry and carve the other three before Saturday so we can have some to put candles in because I don't think we are going to be able to put anything inside of these.

Bird Refuge

I have been working the past couple of Saturdays trying to earn a little extra money to pay for my car repairs (For those of you who don't know, I had a little run-in with a cement column in a parking garage and the cement column definitely won. I don't recommend doing this as it is a very expensive reminder to PAY ATTENTION). Anyway, Robby is such a good dad and he took the kids on a little outing the first Saturday I was working. It was a gorgeous day and they went to the bird refuge and took some pictures then they came home and carved the kids' pumpkins. The kids had a blast and hardly even noticed I was gone.

I wish I had taken some pictures of the carved pumpkins before they got old, shrunken and moldy, but I'll post the after pictures next.

Pack's Pumpkin Patch

Wow! I'm so behind on blogging. Where did October go?

A couple of weeks ago the boys and I went with Isaac's preschool class on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. It was really cold and windy, but we had fun anyway. They went through the hay maze several times and they especially liked sitting on the tractor and trailer. We didn't get any pumpkins because we had just gone to J & J Gardens the week before and we had five at home from that and then Will went to Black Island Farms pumpkin patch with his Kindergarten class a couple days after this and got another one there.

Driving the tractor.

Isaac wanted a turn all by himself. (The poor kid needs some pants without holes in them. It must be hard to be the youngest)

Oh, they do love each other!

Will liked all the gourds in the back of the trailer.

Conference Weekend

I love Conference Weekend! It is such a great time to be together with the family and not have to worry about what is going on in the outside world. This year was especially good because the kids are old enough now to listen quietly while they do puzzles, color or do other quiet activities. I actually heard most of conference this year which is pretty unusual.

After the Saturday morning session we went for a drive up the canyon up by Snow Basin and we took a little nature walk and let the kids collect a few leaves. It is so pretty up there right now! The kids had a lot of fun making art out of their leaf collections when we got home. Here's a couple of pictures that Robby took on our nature walk.

After the Saturday afternoon session we went to J & J Gardens and went on a hayride out to their pumpkin patch. The kids had a great time picking a pumpkin to take home. Isaac wanted a smallish one, Savannah wanted a perfectly round one and Will wanted one that he could barely lift.

While Robby was gone to the Priesthood Session I made a Chocolate Pie that was delicious. Click here for the recipe. I also made cinnamon rolls that we enjoyed with eggs and juice on Sunday morning.
