You Can't Help but Laugh When You See This!

Sarah has laughed a little bit over the past few weeks, but only when we tickle her. Today was the first time she has laughed at something someone did.

I was eating my lunch in the kitchen and Sarah was in her swing in the family room. Will was getting ready to go to school when he threw his jacket in the air and caught it. Apparently Sarah thought this was hilarious. She laughed out loud and it was so cute! Will wasn't sure what he had done to make her laugh but we quickly figured it out and he got her to laugh again. Luckily I got it on video too.

Sorry the video is turned sideways again. I always forget not to turn the camera when I'm shooting video.

Then Isaac wanted to try to make her laugh. I didn't think she would but he jumped in a circle in front of her and she started laughing even harder than before. It got all of us laughing pretty hard. She was laughing so hard she even screamed at one point. How did we ever get by without this little girl in our family? She makes us all so happy!

Coconut

A while back Robby's mom told me about a food co-op in our area that one of her coworkers was participating in. Then one of my friends was talking about it at aerobics too so I finally decided to give it a try. You pay $15 and they pool all the money and buy a bunch of produce at good prices and then distribute among all the participants. We ended up getting three yellow squash, two big cucumbers, some lettuce (I think it's romaine), five avocados, six tomatos, a bag of carrots, six nectarines, three huge oranges, a carton of strawberries, a carton of blackberries, a huge bunch of bananas and a coconut. I was pretty happy with how much food we got for the price and the kids were thrilled when I came home with so much fruit to eat. (Thanks Kim!) The kids were especially excited about the coconut and couldn't wait to break it open and try it.

Waiting to break it open

Draining the coconut milk

Isaac was brave and tried it first

Isaac liked it so Will gave it a try

Savannah didn't want to drink from the coconut so we put hers in a cup. I think her face says it all.

Robby and I tried it too

We tried to break it open with a hammer first, but that didn't work very well so then we tried the machete.

That worked much better.

It's finally open

Time to try some. None of the kids liked it. Robby and I thought it tasted a bit like a carrot. Not much flavor at all. Maybe you have to dry it first? Anyway, it was an adventure!

Sarah is Home Alone, Oh No!

On Saturday I put Sarah down for a nap in her crib and went outside to do a little weeding. I didn't want to go to the trouble of putting shoes and socks on because I was only planning on being outside for a few minutes. The other kids were all outside playing in the backyard too. About the time I was done weeding Robby came outside and told me he was leaving to get his hair cut. I waved goodbye to him and watched him drive away and then walked around the back of the house to go back inside. That was when Savannah came to me and said "Is the garage open because the sliding glass door is locked." I panicked because I had just watched Robby close the garage and drive away and I knew we were locked out. That would have been fine except for the fact that Sarah was alone in the house and I had no way of knowing if she was sleeping or screaming her head off.
After swallowing my pride I decided my only option was to walk over to the neighbors house, barefoot and in my grubby weeding/cleaning clothes, and borrow a phone to call Robby. How embarrassing! Luckily I was able to call Robby and he quickly came home and let us back in the house. (I think he had locked the door out of habit when he left).
I ran up to Sarah's room to see if she was asleep or screaming and this is what I found:

A happy smiling baby who was just fine by herself in the house.

Sorry the video is the wrong direction. I don't know how to turn it.

Finding Her Voice

Sarah has definitely been trying to tell us something over the past week or so. She has really been finding her voice and telling us that she likes hearing herself talk too.
I took some video of her making some noise, but of course she didn't say as much when the camera was out as she had been before I tried to capture the moment. Oh well.

The kids still love holding her and helping with her and especially love trying to get her to laugh. Hopefully I'll be able to capture a laugh on video soon.

Three Months Old

This is how Sarah feels about tummy time

My little cutie at 12 weeks old
Three months is such a fun age. They really start to show their personality. Sarah is smiling a lot and even laughing now and then. She loves to be held, but is doing better now when she's not being held. The other kids adore her and are constantly kissing her chubby cheeks. We love her so much!
