Baby Yoga

Cat Stretch

Upward Dog

Plank
Sarah has been watching me do yoga for the past few weeks, but I think she is learning to crawl, not do yoga. She is getting a lot braver from her sitting position, even trying to pull herself up if there is something close enough to pull up on.

This is the position I have found her in most often lately. As soon as she figures out how to get that leg under her body she's going to take off crawling. I'm hoping she doesn't figure it out too soon though. I really like this sitting and playing and not getting into everything stage and I'm content to have it last for a few more weeks.
Sarah has also been showing off a new trick for the past couple of weeks and it just melts my heart every time she does it. She puckers up her little lips and makes a kissing sound. It is the cutest thing!

Peoa-Shooting Pics

My sister Heather emailed me some pictures of Robby and me shooting on Saturday.

Robby is teaching me how to use his pistol.

And how to aim

I got two right in the center but about 9 or 10 into the dirt under the target. I thought it would be easy but it really wasn't. Oh well. It was fun doing something that Robby enjoys.

Robby, on the other hand, is a very good shot.

Me with my sister Ali. She and I have been dressed alike the past several times we have gotten together. We must be on the same wavelength or something.

Super Saturday

No, it was not craft day for Relief Society. We had such a fun day on Saturday. We started out with an early soccer game for Will. Robby's parents came even though it was at 8:30 and we were so glad they were able to make it. Will started the game sitting out the first quarter again but then the coach put him in and he scored THREE goals!! He was sooooo excited and so were we! The only bad part was that we didn't have the camera to capture his face glowing with excitement. Crap! I will definitely bring it next time.

After the game and chatting with Robby's parents for a few minutes we loaded up the car and headed to Peoa. (A small town near Kamas) My sister Ali and her husband Ben invited the whole family to Ben's parent's house/property for the day. We started out BBQing hotdogs and marshmallows for lunch. The kids loved that! Especially since their cousins were there to play with too.

Ben's parent's property has such a great picnic area with a firepit and picnic table and plenty of room for the kids to run around and play. It was perfect!

Sarah and Whitney chillin in the pack-n-play while we had lunch.

Will and Savannah roasting some marshmallows for a yummy smores dessert.

After lunch we gathered by the road to watch the cattle being driven by. The kids said it was just like a parade. You would think we had never seen cows before. It was pretty funny!

Watching the cattle drive. In the picture below you can see Isaac plugging his nose!

After the exciting parade of cows Ben saddled a horse for the kids to ride. We told them to all sit down and wait for their turn and they were all very obedient. It was pretty surprising.

Waiting for a turn to ride the horse Bucking Bullseye. Luckily he was very tame despite his name.

Savannah's turn on the horse

Isaac's turn

And Willl's turn. Look at that smile!

Of course, they all wanted more than one turn so we convinced them to go two at a time to speed things up a bit. My dad was great to take them on multiple trips around the field.

Will and Tyler had a turn and they were so funny together up there! I thought for sure one or both were going to fall off.

I even took a turn, although I wanted my dad to lead me like he did the kids. I wasn't comfortable enough to go by myself.
It was really fun! I haven't been on a horse for a couple of years. Ali took a ride too, but she and I were the only adults to ride.
After riding we headed back to Ben's parent's house where we gathered up the kids for a quiet time and the adults went shooting. My mom and Ben's mom were nice enough to watch 10 kids for us so we could all go shooting together.
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of shooting but I think Heather did so if she emails them to me I'll put them on here.
I had never been shooting before. Never even touched a gun so I was a bit intimidated. But Robby was great to show me what to do and didn't get frustrated when I kept forgetting to lean forward and when I couldn't hit anything. We started out shooting at clay pigeons thrown from a machine. Watching everyone else (including my sisters) hitting almost everything that went up in the air I thought it was going to be pretty easy. It wasn't at all. The gun was REALLY heavy! I had a really hard time holding it up there to aim and by the end my arm and shoulder were really sore. (They still are three days later) Eventually, after some more instruction from Ben and my Dad I figured out what I was doing wrong and I was able to hit 3 clay pigeons! I was very excited!!
After shooting the shotguns we switched to pistols and I thought this would be much easier, but it wasn't. I shot the first oh . . . 9 or 10 shots straight into the dirt under the target before I finally figured out how to aim properly and then I hit 2 dead center on the target! It was getting kind of late at this point so my dad and my sisters and I went back to the house to relieve my mom and Ben's mom of the kids. They were all pretty wired by that point, although they were having the time of their lives!
Ben's mom was nice enough to make a delicious dinner for all of us and then it was time to head for home and bed. The kids were all out cold before we made it to the freeway. It was such a fun day! Thanks again Ali and Ben for having us over. We loved it!

Crazy Hair Day

Yesterday was crazy hair day at the kids' school. Savannah rarely lets me do anything besides a ponytail with her hair and I hate it. I beg her everyday to let me do something fun with it. She has such pretty long hair but she never lets me play with it. Last year for crazy hair day I came up with all sorts of fun things to do but she was too scared of looking weird. That's the whole point, right? So last year she only let me do one side into a pigtail and the other in a braid. Ooooh! So crazy! I was expecting more of the same this year but she surprised me and let me do it really crazy.

We used a cup inside the ponytail to make it stay up really big and the white stripes were actually her idea!

She looked awesome! And she told me this morning that she wished we could do it like that again. She has come a long way!!

Poor Will is my adventurous one, but he didn't have any hair to work with. He was asking for spikes and mohawks and all sorts of things but I had just buzzed his hair to almost nothing this weekend so all I could offer him was some white paint left over from Halloween last year. He agreed and said he wanted stripes but every time I started painting one he moved so they were all crooked and weird looking so I told him I was just going to do his whole head white. He agreed and I started doing it, but then I ran out of paint. Oh well. It is crazy for crazy hair day anyway.

We can't wait for Halloween!

7 Months Old

My sweet baby girl is seven months old. She just keeps getting more fun. She is sitting up really well now and this is my favorite stage-when they can sit and play with toys but they can't move around and get into things yet. She is happy most of the time and the kids just can't get enough of her either.

Sarah has lots of new tricks that she is happy to show off except when I have the camera out. I have been trying for the past two weeks to capture these new talents on film but have been mostly unsuccessful. The first video is of one of many attempts to get her to spit for the camera. She kind of does it but not really.

video

Sarah started bobbing her head, copying us when we do it. It is really cute! She even did it a few times on her own when Isaac was playing some music for her. Sorry about the shaky camera work. I was bobbing my head trying to get her to do it.

video

Here she is sitting up and playing with toys and she almost did her scrunchy face that I was trying to capture, but not quite. I haven't been able to get that one on camera yet. I'll have to keep trying.

video

I know, lots of videos but she is so entertaining right now. These next two are of her saying her first word: da da. She said it for the first time on Friday when we were having dinner. Robby said to her "Say da da" and she did! It was really cute. She said it a few times while I was grabbing the camera but when I finally had it ready to record the moment it didn't come out sounding the same as when she first said it. Oh well.

video

Luckily I was able to catch her saying it again today. It's her new favorite thing to do-say da da da over and over.

video

Oh she is such a source of happiness for us! We love her so much. I just can't get over how fast she is growing up. How do I make it slow down? She is going to be 1 before I know it.

She is still getting up once at night, but I think I could get her to stop doing that if I just took a few nights to let her cry it out. It's just easier to get up with her for now. She is napping more regularly and she is a really good eater. She has loved pretty much every fruit and vegetable we have given her. She's not crazy about the rice/mixed grain cereal, but she will still eat it. I started mixing it with breastmilk instead of water and she likes it better that way. (Although it grosses me out! Isn't that weird?) Love love love that little girl!!

Will's First Soccer Game

Will had his first soccer game last Saturday. I was kind of worried about how he would do since all of the other boys on his team have played before and this is his first season, but he did great! It was so fun to go cheer him on.

Will is #5

When they first started the coach decided to sit him out first and I could tell he was really disappointed but he didn't complain at all.

Pretty soon it was his turn to go in and he was so excited! He jumped right in there and ran his little heart out. He even almost got a goal at one point. He was running the ball down the field great and then right when he was near the goal the other team stole the ball and he just backed off and let them have it. He was pretty intimidated by the other players. I'm sure a little experience will fix that problem. He was really happy but tired by the end of the game and he can't wait to play again next Saturday.

You can't really see him, but that is Will about to kick off.

Discovery Gateway

While my brother Dan and his family were still in town we decided to go to Discovery Gateway and let the kids play together for awhile. Unfortunately Ali was sick and couldn't join us, but Heather and Dan and I were there with our kids who are not in school yet.

Isaac loved the ball area and wanted to keep going back there to play some more.

He also liked the construction area, but he had to wait quite awhile for a turn with the crane.

The water was fun, but Isaac wasn't interested for very long.

He really liked the climbing wall, but couldn't climb very far.

He loved the horse and he thought it was really cool that he could get up on it by himself.

Sarah had fun too watching everyone else play.

Isaac peeking in the mousehole. I hope there's no mice in there though.

We had lunch outside on the patio and there was an awesome helicopter where he and Jake played until we were all done eating.

Sarah was all tuckered out after lunch and she took a little 15 minute catnap and she was ready to go again.

Isaac was all excited to go play in the fountains and he ran out there with Jake and Megan to play. I think he got his feet a tiny bit wet and then he was done. He's not much of a water kid. He sat on the sidelines and watched the other kids play at our ward Primary activity too and they even had a huge slip-n-slide. Oh well. I can't really force him to have fun and play if he doesn't want to.

So Isaac spent most of our time at the fountains up here on the rocks. Jake was playing in the water with Megan for awhile and then he decided to join Isaac on the rocks.

The boys had a great time running and climbing together.

Isaac and Jake by the waterfall.

Amber and Heather wanted to do a little shopping so I watched the kids for a few minutes until Dan got back from looking in a store and then he and I watched them together.

Cute Lily sitting in the stroller.

Right after Heather and Amber came back from shopping the boys were up on the rocks again. This time Jake took a tumble off the highest rock and landed on his face. There was blood everywhere! I was worried his nose was broken but after a few minutes it stopped bleeding. He had a huge goose egg on his forehead and his chest got all scraped up. It was really sad. Isaac and Megan were very concerned about him too. Luckily he is a really tough kid and he stopped crying as soon as his mom promised him ice cream on the way home.

Except for the trauma at the end it was a really fun day with my siblings and the kids. Thanks again Dan and Amber for making it work out for me to go. We had a great time with you guys!
