Robby's Birthday

Yesterday was a big day. Robby turned 37, Will lost a tooth (finally)and Isaac went back to preschool!

Robby took the day off and we started the day out with Robby opening his presents.
The kids were excited to watch.

Robby giving high 5's as thanks for his presents from the kids

They got him some glow sticks, a candy bar and a new shirt.

And I got him some new hiking boots. He picked them out though.
After breakfast we got Savannah and Will out the door to school and Sarah down for a nap and then it was time for Isaac to go to preschool. At the beginning of the school year my friends asked if I wanted to do preschool again this year with Isaac and I said no. I was just feeling really burned out and the thought of another year of preschool was too much for me. I had done it for two years with Will and then last year with Isaac and the group we had last year was a little bit too big so it was a bit of a challenge to keep them all focused on the task for the day. And then with having a new baby and trying to get her to nap and everything it was just too much for me. So, after taking a few months off and getting Sarah on a good schedule as well as being released from Young Womens it seemed like a good time to start back up again. Then one of our friends who was in the preschool rented their condo and moved so I thought it would work well to jump into her spot in the rotation and then nothing would get messed up for anyone. Hopefully it will work out better this time around since there are only 4 kids in the group. I think it will be really good and I'm grateful they are willing to take me still since I told them no back in September. Anyway, Isaac was really excited about it and he came home happy that he got to play with his friends. (He really misses the friend that moved away though)
After Isaac came home from preschool we had some lunch and then went to Smith and Edwards
one of Robby's favorite stores. He got himself a few things he has wanted for awhile and mostly just enjoyed some shopping. When the kids got home from school Will was so excited to show us that he had pulled out his tooth. It has been loose for awhile and he was getting tired of it hurting and bleeding all the time so he was thrilled that it finally came out. Unfortunately for him we have a slacker of a tooth fairy. He was very disappointed this morning when he realized that he didn't get any money and his tooth was still there under his pillow. Hopefully she will make it to his room tonight.

There is a big hole and you can see where the new tooth is already starting to come in.
That evening we headed to Bountiful where my parents watched the kids (thanks again Mom and Dad!) while we went to Texas Roadhouse. We had never been there before and it was just as good as we had heard it was. Robby had one of the best steaks he has ever had and the ribs were pretty tasty too. I had the Portabello Mushroom chicken and it was delicious, but I think the rolls were my favorite thing. They were sooooo good!
We picked up the kids and came home for some cake and ice cream. What a fun day!

Blowing out the candles
And I should do a separate post for these, but I'm too lazy. This is Sarah's new favorite thing to do.

Every time I have the dishwasher open now she hurries over and climbs on up. If I slide the bottom rack out to block her she just pushes it in and then climbs up. She also loves to take the silverware out one at a time and throw it across the room. This is turning into a bit of a dangerous passtime. I'm worried she's going to lose a toe or a brother this way. I have decided to do the dishes when she is in bed or otherwise occupied to avoid injuries (and tantrums).

Cute Savannah bought herself a scrapbook, some cute paper and some stickers and she wants to do a baking page so she asked me to take a picture of her baking. That is a peanut butter cookie with a Hershey kiss that she is holding.

Time For a Change

I was released yesterday from being the Young Women's president. When I first heard I was being released I was excited. Now I wouldn't have to plan (and speak at) our upcoming New Beginnings, I wouldn't have to sacrifice every Tuesday (and a lot of time during the week planning lessons and activities) and I wouldn't have to worry about who needed to do what for Personal Progress. It was a huge relief to not have these worries anymore. But the next day after I found out I was being released I was really sad about the change. I have grown really attached to these girls. This calling has been a huge part of my life for the past two years and eight months. I have seen these girls come into Young Women's as shy little twelve-year-olds and seen them grow and mature. I have really loved being part of their lives and we have had so many awesome activities together. We've laughed, we've cried, we've done it all together. It was really hard to say goodbye to them yesterday. A lot harder than I thought it would be. I feel like I have changed a lot through this calling as well and it is hard to let go and move on to something new. I have given a lot of myself to make this program what I thought it should be and it is so hard to pass that on to the new Presidency to do what they want with it. I'm sure they will do a great job, probably better than I did, but it is hard to let go of that control and pass it on to someone else. I guess I'm a bit of a control freak. I wish these girls the best and I hope they continue to be the awesome girls I have come to know. I'll just have to watch from a distance now. I have also been blessed to work with some great women who have become my friends and who have inspired me and taught me how to be a better leader. I'm so grateful for their example and for the opportunity I have had to get to know them as well. It has been a great (although busy) time in my life and now it is on to the next adventure.

We Don't Need a Wii

I would really like a Wii though. Since the kids were home from school on Monday and Tuesday this week for Martin Luther King Jr Day and for a teacher prep day we got out the old Nintendo 64 and let them have at it. They were in heaven! Will and Isaac love Donkey Kong and they played for a good part of the day. I felt bad for them sitting on the toy box so I moved a chair downstairs from the living room for them to use. It takes up most of the room, but they were comfortable.

Savannah got to go to her cousin Clara's house for a sleepover and then she had a birthday party at Classic skating the next day so she had a busy and fun break. I made sugar cookies a little early for Valentines day and the boys had fun decorating a few. Will was especially proud of his.

Two New Signs

Sarah has shown us two new signs the past two days. She did fish (which is done by holding your hand upright and moving it back and forth like a fish swimming) last night for Robby and then she did baby (which is done by folding your arms and rocking them like you are rocking a baby) this morning. She loves it when we clap and get excited for her to do a new sign or say a new word.

Almost 1 on 1/11/11

Sarah is eleven months old today. I really can't believe how fast the time has gone by!! She's going to be one in a few weeks. It's so crazy! She is just so much fun and such a good baby. She is sleeping great now and rarely wakes up before 6:00 anymore. She is such a funny eater though. She won't take anything that is remotely babyish. She spits out the baby food, she turns her nose up at baby crackers and she refuses to drink from a sippy cup. She loves eating whatever we are eating and she loves drinking from a regular cup, although it is really quite comical that she keeps dumping the water down her throat and looks suprised about it every single time. I keep trying to convince her that a sippy cup would be better for her, but she is not having it yet. She loves pasta, hamburger, chips, hummus (yes, I said hummus. She LOVES it!), spaghetti O's, corn, crackers and cookies (as long as they are not baby cookies). I guess it is a good thing that I don't have to waste any money on expensive baby food. What a funny girl. She loves to point to things now and get us to move her closer to it but as soon as you get close enough to touch she will pull her finger back and won't usually touch whatever it is she wanted to see. She is getting her top front teeth to go with the bottom two that have already come in. She is a great talker. She says mama, dada, no no no, baby, quack and she can sign dog, more and milk. She LOVES animals! Real ones, stuffed ones and even pictures of them. She squeals and gets so excited when she sees one and if she can get her hands on it she will hug it or give it kisses. It is really very cute. She also loves to see babies, real or in pictures and she will say baby and give it kisses too. She is such a loving little one. Only one more month until I can stop breastfeeding, I mean until she turns one. It has been such a great eleven months with this little sweetheart.
