Robby's sister Jessica is in town from Texas and we went to the zoo together with Robby's parents and his brother Richard and his family. It was so much fun! The weather ended up being perfect and we had such a great day together.
Sarah wanted to sit on the wall with the other kids. She kept saying "up high, up high"
Isaac, Savannah and Jaden
Will, Gabriel and Rebecca
Isaac wanted a turn by himself.
They had a place to dig for dinosaur bones that the kids thought was pretty cool.
Sarah and Isaac watching the giraffes
Jaden LOVES Savannah. It is so cute! He kept asking where she was if he wasn't already with her. Luckily she loves helping with him too so it works out great.
Isaac, Savannah and Rebecca waiting to go on the carousel.
OK, there's Will to be in the picture.
Sarah LOVED the carousel. I wasn't sure how she would react, but she thought it was great!
All the other kids loved it too.
Ready for a nap.
What a bunch of monkeys!
Waiting to ride the train. Thanks Grandma and Papa for taking us on the carousel AND the train! We are pretty spoiled.
Will, Papa and baby Sawyer
Savannah and Jaden
Isaac and Jessica
Sarah waiting while Mommy took pictures.
Me and Sarah. She loved the train too. She is such an animal lover that the whole day was just great for her. She was in heaven seeing all those animals at one time.
Sawyer was giving me (or probably his mom in front of me) some smiles before we got started on our train ride. What a cutie!
Sarah thought she was so big sitting up on this spider. It was so cute!
Isaac turned 5 on June 4th. I can't believe how fast these past few years have flown!! He was pretty excited for his special day. He opened his presents right after breakfast.
A kid-tough camera that we have been holding onto since Christmas for him. (He had more gifts than the other kids so we had to save it for his birthday) He also got a slip-n-slide and some glow sticks.
Training wheels for Will's old bike so now he can ride with the big kids. He looked so big on that old tricycle he's been riding for ages.
Much better!
We had a whole day of fun planned for him starting out with the trail-opening. There is a new trail that just opened by our house and they were having a big grand opening celebration on Isaac's birthday. We walked for about an hour and got tons of free stuff and the kids got to play a couple games. It was really fun.
We had planned on going to the zoo after grabbing a bite to eat after the trail thing but unfortunately it didn't work out and we had to cancel the zoo trip. Robby's parents were going to come with us to the zoo so they ended up coming to our house to visit instead.
Isaac was very excited to open more presents.
Tangled! One of our favorites!
A huge acitivity book. Look at Will's face! Hee hee!
And then they surprised us with a present for the whole family: A new tent!!
We were so excited!! We took it out to the backyard and set it up after the kids played on the slip-n-slide.
They took to the slip-n-slide like a fish to water. It was pretty fun to watch them too!
I filmed the kids who were slipin and slidin for awhile but then I realized I was filming the wrong thing and I should be filming Sarah. She thought it was hilarious that the kids were running and falling down and she was laughing her head off. It was so funny! You can kind of hear her in the background on the other video, but I captured her laughing a bit in the video below.
After the slip-n-slide we got the tent set up and it is AWESOME! Thank you so so so much Bill and Kim! We love it!
We went out to dinner at McDonalds (of course) and then headed home for some cake and ice cream. Isaac wanted Angel Food cake with raspberries and whipped cream (but I talked him into strawberries since they are so much cheaper) and he also wanted his name written in frosting and he wanted to eat some frosting so I made him a chocolate cake too. (OK, mostly I wanted chocolate cake and I knew Robby would too)
On Sunday my parents came over to see the birthday boy and brought some presents too.
Another slip-n-slide (a way cooler, more expensive and overall better one, I might add)
New goggles that will come in handy for swimming lessons in a couple weeks.
This one has two tracks so you can race and there is a little pool at the end which Sarah discovered is just the right size for her.
Sarah watched patiently from the sidelines for about, oh, 10 seconds before she was investigating for herself. She is such an outside girl! She loves to be part of the action with her siblings too.
We had such a great weekend celebrating Isaac's birthday. We are so glad that he is part of our family!
We were at the pharmacy waiting for a presciption when an older lady came and sat down next to Isaac. I got up from my chair to throw something away and Isaac stole my seat while I was gone. I teased him about it and he said "Well, I don't want to have to sit next to the old granny over there." Oh, what do you say to that?! She clearly heard him, so I just apologized and sat down next to her for 10 minutes until her prescription was ready and she left. Awkward!
Isaac was supposed to be changing into his pj's when he came downstairs wearing his shirt as a hat and his socks. He said something about his 'hat' and Robby said "No one is looking at your hat because you are naked." and then Isaac said: "I'm not naked, I have my socks on."
Will as he was watching the first few minutes of "Harry and the Hendersons": "This is freaking me out!"
Isaac: "How come your hair is so long Mom?"
Me: "Because I haven't cut it for a long time."
Isaac: "You should go up to the bathroom and cut it like mine." Me: "Then my hair would look like yours and I would look like a boy."
Isaac: "Don't worry Mom, I won't forget that your not a boy."
We were driving home from Costco the other day and out of nowhere Isaac says "Mom, I know what inertia is." He goes on to accurately explain it to me and the older kids. (Who didn't know what it meant) He must have learned it from TV because it sure didn't come from me.
I came awake the other morning to the sound of Isaac saying "Bwaah ha ha ha ha" in a deep (and very loud) voice. He decided that was the best way to wake up Will for the day.
Isaac came to me very alarmed: "Mom! Sarah is playing with the train set!"
Me: "That's OK. She can't choke on anything there."
Issac: "I know, but what if she puts it in her mouth? It will be all gross!"
Issac (coming up to me with a paper and pencil in hand): "Mom, how do you spell 'You little creep?'"
(The next day Will came to me all upset because Isaac had given him a mean note. Oops! I guess I shouldn't help him spell mean things!)
Isaac has been enjoying talking about where our food comes from. We were talking about which animals different kinds of meat comes from. At dinner days later we were having lemon pepper chicken with rice and Isaac said: "Is there chicken in that sauce Mom?" I replied that there was and he said: "Good. I love dead chicken for dinner. Cause chicken meat comes from a dead chicken." Then Robby said "Yum. Dead chicken meat for dinner."
Will was remembering our recent trip and seeing Robby's grandpa (who is in his 90's) when he said: "Great Grandpa is the oldest one in the family. He must have been born in like the 1980's!"
Isaac: "Boys rule, girls drool."
I gave him a little smile so he says: "But not you and Savannah, Mom. Sarah drools a lot! Boys rule, Mom and Savannah are cool and Sarah drools."
Savannah (sounding very put out): "Mom, Will called me and Isaac pesky." Me (laughing): "Oh no, not pesky!"
Then seeing that she didn't like me laughing at her I said "He probably doesn't even know what it means."
Will (popping up around the corner of the room) "I don't."
Isaac has made up a new word. The word is pubarious and it means awesome. He uses it all the time, and correctly too. The other night at dinner he was playing I Spy with Will and Robby guessed what the thing was before Isaac had a chance to guess and he was mad about it so I told Will to let him guess and then just tell him no, that's not it. Isaac didn't like this plan because he wanted to be right and he burst into tears and told me I was so not pubarious.
Isaac: "I'm part gorilla."
Robby: "Oh yeah, which part?"
Isaac points to his armpit. "This part. These are my balls."
We have been having trouble keeping the boys in their beds at night. Do they really have to go to the bathroom three times in 30 minutes? Will got out of bed and came downstairs and we asked him what he needed and he said "Isaac is out of bed." We both just looked at him and he gave us a sheepish grin and went back to bed.
Me: "Isaac, I'm making some cookies."
Isaac: "Good! I'm starving for cookies! Mom, can you give me four cookies if I want four and can you give me one cookie if I want one? But, I want four though."
Me: "Isaac, you have to eat your beans or you don't get any dessert."
Isaac: "Mom, these beans are disappointing me."
Isaac: "What's for dinner?"
Me: "Casserole"
Isaac: "I don't like casserole because I'm allergic to it."
Will: "I want a surprise party for my next birthday."
He proceeds to tell me exactly how to surprise him and where each person should hide. Then he says "I'll probably forget about the plan by my birthday."
Isaac: "We shouldn't name her Sarah Nicole we should name her Sarah Poopy because she poops a lot!"
Isaac was eating a waffle with syrup for breakfast. He was dipping his fingers in the syrup and licking it off when out of nowhere he said "Man. This pancake sure is messy."
I overheard the kids talking as they were watching Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Savannah (commenting on the Grinch dressing up like Santa): "I can't believe anyone fell for that! He has green skin and Santa doesn't."
Will: "Yeah, and he doesn't have any pants on."
Me: "Isaac, would you like a piece of Banana Cream pie?"
Isaac: "Of course! I thought you would never ask."
Will to me: "Your belly is getting really big. Can we call you fat mom now?"
Me: "Absolutely not!"
Isaac: "Basketball Ben is the biggest one in the world!"
Me: "Isaac, how come you don't want to go to preschool today?"
Isaac: "Mom, it gives me a headache."
Will is in the bath and Issac is laughing at the things he is doing.
Will: "Isaac, listen to my new song."
He proceeds to sing/blow bubbles in the water.
Isaac: "That's not a song."
Will: "It's in French."
It's been an hour and a half since I put Isaac down for his nap. He's been in and out of his bedroom and the bathroom.
Me: "Isaac, you need to be quiet and lay down. Are you laying down?"
Isaac: "Mom, I'm just singing."
Me: "Are you laying down?"
Isaac: (Singing) "I've got no strings to hold me down. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. I am a child of God."
It is quite the medley and I decide that he is probably not going to have a nap today.
The kids were talking about bad guys at the park and Will said "There's nothing for them to steal at the park" and then Savannah said "Except for kids" and then Will said "Yeah, they wouldn't steal a grown up because they're too heavy."
Me: "OK guys, we are not going to leave Sacrament meeting to go to the bathroom anymore. We are going to have to go before the meeting or after."
Will: "But we can just go during Sacrament meeting if it is a lesson we've already had."
Savannah: "Mom, I want a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch."
Isaac: "Mom, I want a 'boy' cheese sandwich."
Will at dinner tonight: "I have two heads. My regular head and then another smaller head inside my head that is my knuckle head."
Me: "Isaac, what would you like for lunch?"
Isaac: "Candy."
Me: "You can have candy after you eat some lunch."
Isaac: "But mom, I love candy."
Isaac: "Mom, can I have a knife to cut my banana and make it into a banana split?"
